A striking example of Finnish studio-inspired glass from the 1970s, this Kivi-set bowl was designed by Pertti Santalahti for Humppilan Lasi.
“Kivi” means “stone” in Finnish and the name fits perfectly. The bowl features a dramatic, rock-like amber center that appears embedded into thick, textured clear glass. The contrast between the smooth glowing core and the raw, ice-like outer surface creates a powerful sculptural presence.
This is not a delicate piece. It is heavy, tactile, and architectural a true statement object. From above, the deep amber center resembles molten lava; from the side, the clear glass diffuses light like frozen water.
