A beautiful and distinctive Sinikki glass bird designed by Professor Oiva Toikka for Nuutajärvi in 2002, commissioned for the City of Vantaa, Finland.
This striking sculptural bird features a deep cobalt-blue body decorated with multicoloured semi-lustre spots in shades of cream, silver, gold and darker tones. Its light turquoise tail and sculptural pale-blue head create a beautiful contrast against the rich blue glass.
Sinikki was a special commissioned design for the City of Vantaa and was not originally available through regular retail stores. It represents an interesting and collectible piece of Finnish glass design.
The bird is mouth-blown and individually shaped by skilled glassblowers at the historic Nuutajärvi glassworks. Its organic form, rich colours and decorative glass details make it an eye-catching addition to a collection of Finnish art glass.
The underside bears the O. Toikka Nuutajärvi Vantaa–Vanda signature and the original Iittala label.
A special collectible for admirers of Oiva Toikka's Birds by Toikka collection and Finnish glass craftsmanship.
