Kaukametsä Ryijy by Aappo Härkönen, Finnish Wool Wall Hanging

A beautiful Finnish designer ryijy titled "Kaukametsä", designed by Aappo Härkönen in 1956.

This striking wall hanging features an atmospheric, abstract forest-inspired composition in soft natural cream, beige, grey, muted blue, dark brown and burgundy tones. Its richly textured pile creates depth and dimension, while the distinctive vertical patterns evoke the shapes of trees in a distant woodland landscape.

The natural wool texture and harmonious colour palette make this piece a wonderful addition to any interiors, whether displayed in a living room, bedroom or creative space.

The ryijy has a traditional textile backing, decorative fringes along the lower edge and a hanging channel at the top. An expressive example of Finnish textile design, combining traditional craftsmanship with modernist artistic sensibility.
