About Saara
Saara was designed by Anja Jaatinen-Winquist for Arabia and produced on the M-model tableware from 1971 to 1976. The decoration is characteristic of the early Saara colorway, combining navy blue and green with a distinctive floral pattern.
The decoration was created using layered techniques: the floral outlines were airbrushed onto the stoneware, followed by hand-applied glazes. This gives the pattern its lively, slightly painterly appearance and depth.
Collector's note
This set includes 4 coffee cups and the matching Saara coffee pot — no saucers.
The navy-and-green colorway is associated with the early production of Saara. Other Saara pieces can be found with amber replacing the green secondary tone, so collectors building a matching service should pay attention to the colorway when combining individual pieces.
A striking example of 1970s Finnish Arabia design, particularly appealing as a complete coffee serving group or as an addition to a growing Saara collection.
