A striking piece of Finnish vintage art glass, this large Humppila Tokka bowl was designed by Finnish designer Tauno Wirkkala in the early 1970s.
The bowl features a beautiful combination of deep amber and golden-brown transparent glass, with an organic, flower-like silhouette. Its dramatic scalloped rim, radiating ribbed structure and distinctive textured circular center create wonderful depth and reflections as light passes through the glass.
The Tokka belongs to Tauno Wirkkala's Kalevala series, designed in 1972 and produced by Humppila from 1972–1987. Documented examples of the Tokka are approximately 28 cm in diameter and 10–11 cm high.
At 28 cm wide, this is a substantial decorative bowl that works beautifully as a centerpiece, fruit bowl, serving bowl, or sculptural display object. The rich amber colour makes it particularly striking in natural light.
