A beautiful vintage Finnish Noitarumpu ryijy, designed by Finnish textile artist Raija Gripenberg for Helmi Vuorelma and woven by Sisko Seppälä in the early 1960s.
The design features a rich deep-red ground with striking dark blue and white geometric and stylized motifs. The thick, tactile pile gives the piece wonderful depth and texture, making it particularly impressive as a large-scale piece of Scandinavian textile art.
At approximately 198 × 106 cm, this is a substantial statement piece that works beautifully as wall art in a living room, bedroom, studio, gallery-style interior or other Scandinavian, Mid-Century Modern or eclectic space.
