A striking Humppilan Lasi Mesiurut glass vase, designed by Tauno Wirkkala in 1972 as part of his Kalevala series. This beautiful example is signed by Tauno Wirkkala and retains its original Humppila sticker.
The vase has an organic, sculptural silhouette with a distinctive honeycomb-like surface pattern. The warm honey-yellow / amber-colored glass gives the piece a beautiful depth and glow, particularly when placed in natural light.
Condition: Very Good. The vase is intact with no cracks or chips. It has only very minor signs of use.
About the Mesiurut / Kalevala Series
Mesiurut is part of Tauno Wirkkala's Kalevala series for Humppilan Lasi. The series was produced from 1972 to 1987 in brown, green, blue and clear glass.
The Kalevala series also included the Ulpukka serving dish, Prisma vase, Tokka bowl, Aurinko serving dish and Revontulet bowl.
With its organic and eye-catching form, the Mesiurut vase makes a strong decorative statement on its own, while also providing an elegant setting for anything from a few individual branches to a generous bouquet. Its sculptural silhouette is equally beautiful when displayed empty as a piece of Finnish vintage art glass.
A wonderful collector's example, particularly with both Tauno Wirkkala's signature and the original Humppila label.
Use & display: A striking piece of vintage Finnish art glass, ideal as a standalone sculptural object or for displaying flowers.
